Bygdin Høifieldshotel offers a remarkable outdoor sauna experience at the foot of Jotunheimen. The approximately 13 sqm sauna is built from solid wood by Norsk Massivtre in Valdres and features floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows that bring the dramatic mountain landscape right into the room.
The Experience
The wood-fired sauna seats around 10-15 guests and provides stunning views through heat-resistant panoramic windows stretching from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Nature feels close at hand as you warm up in the traditional way, heated by a wood-burning stove.
A Mobile Sauna
Uniquely, this sauna weighs approximately 7-8 tons and is mounted on two wheels, allowing a large tractor to transport it to different locations around the hotel grounds. This mobile design means the sauna can be placed in the most scenic spots depending on the season.
