Hattvika Lodge in Ballstad is a collection of beautifully restored fishermen’s cabins dating back to the late 1800s, and its waterfront sauna is one of the most celebrated features of the property. Built right over the water, the Finnish sauna offers stunning views across the harbour and out to the surrounding Lofoten peaks.
The lodge features two saunas and a jacuzzi, all available for an additional charge that can be arranged at the time of booking. Guests love the full experience of heating up in the sauna and then jumping off the dock into the cold Arctic waters below. Hattvika Lodge is run by Guri and Kristian, with Guri being a sixth-generation Ballstad local with deep roots in the area. The on-site restaurant serves excellent food, and the lodge offers various outdoor activities. Ballstad itself is a nearly thousand-year-old fishing village and remains the largest operational fishing village in Lofoten, adding layers of authenticity to any visit.
