Nordnorsk Badstuforening, also known as Fauna Sauna, is a community-driven sauna experience nestled by the fjord in Bodo. Founded in 2023 by an enthusiastic Dutch resident with a dream of making saunas part of everyday life in northern Norway, the association operates two distinct wood-fired sauna cabins right by the Arctic sea.
One cabin offers stunning panoramic views over the water through large windows, while the other provides a cosier, more intimate setting. The wood-burning stoves create an authentic, rustic heat, and the location just beyond the harbour means you can step out and plunge directly into the fjord. Sunset sessions here, with the Arctic light playing across the water, are particularly memorable.
Beyond regular sauna sessions, Nordnorsk Badstuforening hosts a rich programme of events including sauna rituals, yoga classes, musical experiences, lectures, and social gatherings around the fire pit. Both shared and private sessions are available, making it suitable for solo visitors and groups alike. The sauna is open Tuesday through Sunday, and booking in advance is recommended.
